Wired magazine is one of the most prestigious contemporary publications, both online and in print (branched into three domains: British Wired, American Wired and Italian Wired) that is focused on capturing the zeitgeist of our time. Needless to say, Wired is recognized worldwide as one of the most influential media outlets, always offering fresh and bold stance (usually trough the lenses of technology) on the matters of interests (whether it would be politics, culture or sciences). Pretty impressive, huh?
Also, they asked fleka to develop flash based player for revamp of Wired Italia website.
Video has become one of the main ways we communicate as a society (Youtube being second biggest search engine in the world after Google and exceeding 2 billion views a day, according to website-monitoring.com statistics). You are probably having a clip loading in a background as you read this, or plan on watching one soon.
Sequentially, sporting your own video player is matter of prestige when it comes to web publications. Having such an important feature crafted and branded in a way that perfectly suits your needs and needs of your audience is an undeniable proof of quality brand. Thats why building the flash video player was a test for us. It had to be impeccable, fluid and natural, offering all the features user might desire from such application. Everything had to be smooth and responsive, since usability was the primary goal we aimed at. Although most of the graphical elements were already provided by Wired team, we had the freedom to improve it, if we felt necessary to do so. And we did, by adding closed captions and language selection to the main toolbar. Non-italian speakers, rejoice!
We hope that, with new video flash player, we managed to enrich the experience and provide more pleasant web environment for all wired.it users. In fact, why don't you be the judge of it and check out one of the awesome videos at Wired TV!
