Hi-Café

HI-CAFÉ is an international restaurant in Milan that offers wide variety of dining possibilities. HI-CAFÉ is not a regular place, it was designed to exist within any place with urban and cultural purpose (bookstore, music store, art store...) and enhance the experience one can have when enjoying either environment.

Our initial idea was that we need flexible identity that can represent not only HI-CAFÉ itself, but the environment it was placed within. We came up with few solutions - one for music store, one for library environment.

First HI-CAFÉ was opened in Milan within Mondadori Multicenter store  in Via Marghera. For that occasion, we designed different elements that would shape customer’s experience and make the staying in HI-CAFÉ highly unique and enjoyable - we aimed at total design that would cover as many elements as possible. Besides the logo enriched with book motives, we designed paper tablecloths that held the image and review of week’s featured book. Our design also included clothing for waiters and waitresses, sugar&tea bags, cups, menus and other accessories.

Idea that underlined whole identity was red ribbon found in book that marks the spot where you left off. We wanted it to serve both as visual and mental reminder of HI-CAFÉ as a place that you keep coming back to.
