Fašinada is annual event that takes place every july in Perast, Montenegro. This traditional celebration got its name from the Italian word ”fascia”, meaning tape or binding, so called because the convoy of boats, decorated with poplar branches and loaded with rocks, are tied together. The boats carry only the local priest and the men, descendants of famous seafarers, and prominent citizens of Perast while the women wave to them from the shore. Every year on the 22nd of July, at the end of the day when the sun goes down, the rowing boats set out to the sound of the bugarstica , towards the island to fulfill the vows of their ancestors and to drop more rocks around the island. The island was made at the end of the 15th century when the original church was built, although it has since expanded as the island has grown.

Each year, regatta called Fašinada Cup is being organized during the days of Fašinada. It lasts for few days and attracts hundreds fans of yachting and sailing. The reason Fašinada Cup managed to last for eight years now is the great enthusiasm and devotion of the organization behind the competition. Since they have very modest budget, this year fleka wanted to help the organization with site redesign.
Website productionSince we were on very tight schedule and had only limited amount of time to get the site up and running, the decision was to employ Wordpress as the main site platform. We made good use of its flexibility and features and easily made good looking, clean and informative center for this year’s Fašinada. We also expanded it in regards to its previous versions, where we added multi-language, multiple galleries, all the necessary information such as rules, route and Fašinada program. We even made it possible to register for regatta over the website.
